Gary:
Hi this is Gary with MacMost Now. On today’s episode, let’s take a look at an affordable yet powerful desktop publishing program. So one of the first killer apps for the Mac was Desktop Publishing and still today Macs are used for that a lot and there are a lot of different programs out there, but they tend to be fairly expensive. So you’re faced with either trying to force a word processor to do a little simple desktop publishing for you or forking over the bucks for a professional package. There’s a new program called iStudioiStudio Publisher that’s affordable and does all the basics. I caught up with them at Mac World Expo and asked them about it.
Tom:
Hi my name is Tom O Conner i am the managing director of iStudio Publisher.com and I’m here at Mac World from the UK launching a new product that’s now been on the market 3 days. It’s a publishing product in between pages and in design. It’s designed to be very simple to use, very productive for people who are non graphic designers to start with who can become fairly proficient in graphic design and in working in desktop publishing within hours or days, rather than months or years. The software is a Mac only based product. The software is also expandable and because we have a small dedicated team we will be able to give people what they want in the next version of the software, providing its obviously straight forward in what we’re trying to do. There are opportunities for people to enhance the product themselves by asking for things they would like to have in the product. The retail of the software is $100, we have a special show offer at $49.99 and that offer will be available for the next 2 months.
