MacMost Forum / Airport Extreme lifespan?

How many years should I expect my Airport Extreme to be useful? Comcast (our ISP) seems to be behaving, but we’re dropping our network connection frequently. Thanks.

    I’ve had an Airport Extreme for about 3 years now and no problems. But before that, I went through a series of Linksys wireless routers that seemed to last about 18 months each. It is a piece of electronics, and like others it can break down. Those things do get hot, which can deteriorate some parts. Have you kept it up-to-date with updates?

      I update everything that comes to my attention through the Apple updates alert. My wife tells me we’ve had this one for longer than three years, so maybe its time is up.
