What is the idea of having the burn folder in the public section of sharing?
And would you advise keeping to keep a percentage of your work on a cloud facility, such as idisk or dropbox, which I have a free account with.
thanks in advance —–

  1. I’m not sure what you mean by a Burn Disc folder in the public section of sharing. Burn Folders are used to gather items for burning to a disc. Did you create one that is in your Public Folder? I just don’t understand the question.
As for the cloud — it depends on your needs. Cloud services like iDisk and Dropbox are great for people who move between computers or want to share documents with multiple people. But unless you have a specific need for that, I wouldn’t see why you would use them.

      thanks for the reply Garry

I am referring to the burn folder that is on all macs as default in the public folder on finder. I think that its there, as you say, to gather files to burn to a disc, but why put it in the public folder.
The reason for the second part of my question is that I take my macbook on the road and have an imac at home plus an ipad now. I am finding it a bit of a pain keeping all my work on two machines and having to try and access material from my ipad. I think I need to have a central point to access all my files from, so that i can work on projects on any of my machines, where ever I am.
Sorry to be a little vague.
      thanks again
      Jim H

      • I’m still not sure what you mean. There is a Public folder in your user folder. Inside that, unless you have added something, is a DropBox folder. There is no Burn folder there.
Yes, if you need to share some document between a desktop and a laptop (and an iPad) then using iDisk or Dropbox is a great way to do it.
