MacMost Forum / Changing size of pictures

Hi!

Since my old Photoshop does no longer work when I changed my old G5 into a new iMac, I have really problemes to change the size of pictures (taken by camera or as a screen shot) to optimize them for mails and internet. I cannot believe that Apple offers no solution for such a simple problem….

    Actually, there are a few ways to do this. The main way people will do this is just using iPhoto. If your photos are already in iPhoto, you can just go to File, Export. You can also use iPhoto to compress a photo and send it right to Mail. For other images, you can open them in Preview and use the Tools menu to reduce it in size, and the File menu to Save As a jpg image.

    Another easy way to do this if you’re using Apple Mail is just to drag the picture into your message. Once you do this a dropdown will appear in the bottom of the message allowing you to set the size for all of the photos in the message.

    Hi Gary and Timo
    When it comes to saving a .jpg file in Preview, I always miss one feature: when you get prompted for a compression level with that little slider, is there any way you can preview the image at selected compression level, before you actually hit save button?
