Gary when iTunes Match is active, will we need the Internet to play the Matched songs ? That means we pay $24.99 Annually plus the Internet Bandwidth cost ? ALso the Net Speed would have to be fast enough to avoid buffering?

  1. iTunes Match hasn’t launched yet, and Apple has only given us the basics. But the way it sounds those matched songs will only be in the cloud. But it doesn’t say what will happen to the ones you already have on your Mac or iOS device. I can’t believe it would delete them — though that may be an option for some since the idea might be to clear off space by using iCloud to store your music.
I don’t know if speed is too much of an issue for music. Pandora, for instance, seems to work fine over the slower Edge network. 256Kbps songs are still nothing compared to video.

So basically without the internet we cannot access the music that is matched and in the cloud… Right?

If so the cost is the annual fee plus the Internet bandwidth charge if one is on 3g and not wifi !

Yup true just not sure if it is only an online service. Guess we’ll know later.
