I have several Quicktime MOV files that I imported into iTunes…but they won’t come over into my iPad2 when I sync. How do I convert them, and is there a free Mac utility to do so?

iTunes should do it. Select the video in iTunes. Go to the Advanced menu. You should see a “Create Apple TV or iPad version” menu item. You can also use programs like MPEG Streamclip or Handbrake to do this.
Gary — thank you, that worked well! Now, on the iPad, where are the M4V’s located. I don’t see them on the camera roll… I am able to search for them, but I’d like them to have a visible icon…
Look in the Videos app.
