Thank you for your excellent website and tutorials.
I have recently encrypted my hard drive with time machine and now the start up screen when i log in looks different and the Mac now takes longer to boot up. Is this normal from your experience? —–

  1. Encrypt with Time Machine? Do you mean File Vault? Time Machine does backups. File Vault is what you would use to encrypt your drive.
I would imagine it does take a little longer to boot up when you have encrypted your entire drive.
If this is a problem, then consider never shutting down. See episode 240: http://macmost.com/shut-down-or-sleep.html
