MacMost Forum / DV Files

Hi Gary,

I have a bunch of .dv clips produced by an old Sony video camera. Neither iPhoto nor iMovie recognizes that format.

What format should I convert them to? And what software and settings should I do the conversion with?

I have a one-year-old 24″ iMac running Snow Leopard, iPhoto and iMovie ’09.

    iMovie should handle .dv files — but they may use a form of compression that isn’t compatible. If you can convert them in a program to something else, then any .mp4 or .mov format should work. But I’d use .h264 compression for the best results.
