I run Windows 7 through Parallels on my iMac. What files should I back up (in addition to my documents) in case I have to restore the VM. I use Time Machine with an external disk and Carbonite online backup.

  1. Do you mean what files do you need to back up INSIDE of Windows? Or which files do you need to backup on your Mac that Parallels uses?
I’m not sure about the first, but for the second I would ask on the Parallels support pages about that. They would know what Parallels needs and uses and how to back it up. Though I assume that if they are just normal files in your documents folder that they would be backed up by Time Machine.
