How Do I Download Video or Audio From YouTube or Other Sites Using Safari?

I would like to be able to download either the video/audio from youtube or other sites using my mac. I do not use Flash thus most of the videos seem to be HTML 5. I am using a Macbook and iMac running El Capitanusing Safari 9.1 as my main browser. I only use Chrome if the site requires Flash as I do not have that installed on my system. I have explored the use of the develop menu using activity window but have not been able to figure how to do that.

You can do it using Chrome extensions. Search for one that does exactly this.
But note that just because you can do this, doesn't mean you should. It is usually a violation of copyright to do this, unless the video creator has specified explicitly that you can. Otherwise, you should ask the video creator if there is a downloadable copy of the video, or for permission to pull his or her video from YouTube.
