How Do I Omit a Separate Face File for the Same Person? How Do I Consolidate Them?

In Photo on my Mac OS X El Capitan 10.11.5 Photo Faces there are two face files for me “Joe”. Both are spelled correctly and are identical in all aspects. How did a second face file begin and how do I consolidate them?

Thanks,

Not sure how the second one started. It was easy enough when I tried to do it right now -- I just removed myself from two photos and added them back but with a different spelling.
To fix it, I clicked on Faces on the left sidebar to see the circle-faces list. Then I selected both the correct one and the new misspelled one by holding down the Command key which clicking the second. With both selected, I Control+clicked on the first and selected "Combine 2 Faces." Those two then rejoined the correct group.
