I am using a Mac Desktop, OS X, v 10.6.8 w/ 3.2 Intel Core 13 w/4 GB mem. 1333 MHz DDR3, using iMovie 11.
I have many years of 8mm home movies which I have converted to DVD + R and want to process them in iMovie. I am able to play them on the Mac but there seems to be no provision to upload them in order that I may import to the library to work on them. Please direct me to the right place for help if this is not it. Thanks much

  1. You need a program that will rip the contents of the DVD to files. See episode 492: http://macmost.com/importing-dvd-video.html

Thanks Gary, for the help w/IMovie. I was able to use “Handbrake” to convert my “DVD Direct” discs to M4V and download and use them to create a movie. I was “Cautioned that there are 4800 “data breaks” (????) in the file but it seemed to work fine tho I did loose some clarity I think.
