In Mail, go to Mail, Preferences. Then choose Composing at the top. Look for the setting "Send new messages from" and set that to the account you want.
I had googled this answer before I wrote to you. The setting is correct under Mail>Preferences>Composing and Send new messages from but I have several email accounts and I never know which one will come up when I do a reply or start a new message. Granted I can change it but I'm not sure why the setting doesn't work for me. I re-entered the email address and then did a reboot but still have the same problem.
Terri: Perhaps it is because you are replying to a message that was sent to another address? For instance, if you have a@a.com and b@b.com and have your default set to a@a.com, then all NEW messages will be from a@a.com, but if you get a messages sent to b@b.com and try to reply to it, then the reply will come from b@b.com. Makes sense, right?
Yes, that part does make sense but shouldn't it revert to the default account when starting a new mail? And to be honest, even if the new mail comes into the default account, the sender address isn't always the default. It perplexes me but thanks for your prompt responses. I've already learned so much from your newsletter.
Terri: Yes, it definitely should always use your default account when you start a new mail. It does for me.
