My Mac is configured to look for dummy URL as the default software update server. This dummy server is not up and running. How do I reconfigure my Mac to go to Apple Software update server?
I tried:
sudo defaults write com.Apple.SoftwareUpdate CatalogURL http://swupdate.Apple.com:8088/index.sucatalog This did not help.

  1. Are you sure that is the right URL? Are you sure you are using the right command for your OS — you didn’t mention if you are using Lion or Snow Leopard.

  2. Premal says:

Actually I fixed it. Using Snow Leopard. I had to delete the com.apple.SoftwareUpdate file. After that OS goes out to Apple server for the update.

    Thanks.
