According to the System Profiler it has a CD-RW/DVD-R. I don’t know why it won’t play a movie.

  1. What exactly are you doing? What are you running to play a DVD? Are you getting an error message? What is happening? Did you try more than one DVD? A store-bought DVD or a handmade one?

It a regular store bought dvd.

Even if music cd’s will play.

    • I’m not an optical media hardware expert, but I’m sure there is a lot more involved with DVD playback than with CD playback. No matter, because if it won’t work it won’t work. You’ve got to have someone take a look at your optical drive to see if they can fix it — if you think it is worth it on such an old machine.
