hi, on the mac in login items there is ituneshelper, someone told me that it isnt needed so I took it away, Is it needed? When I connect my iphone I see that itunes doesnt automatically open anymore, Is that the only thing I need it for? And how do I get it back if I want it back? I tried looking for it to put it back but I cant find it. I would appreciate your help thanks

  1. iTunes helper basically does what you surmised: it looks for you to plug in your iPod or other device and launches iTunes if you have that setting selected. But it may do more than that. I have seen hints that it may help iTunes in other ways. It is a small process that uses hardly any power, so I don’t recommend removing it.
To add it back, find your iTunes application in the Application folder. Select it and right+click to choose “Show Package Contents.” Then look in Resources for iTunesHelper.app. Drag that back into your Login Items list in your System Preferences, Accounts.

I know this is old, but it says in my Login Items that iTunesHelper couldn’t be found… I just updated iTunes.
