MacMost Forum / my volume control is grayed out

My sound is gone or actually it comes and goes right now it is grayed out. if it is my sound card for now do i have any other choice to get sound? please help

    The only suggestion I have is to make sure your earphone jack is clean. When dirt gets in there it can cause problems like this.
    Other than that, take it to the Genius Bar to have them look at it.
