MacMost Forum / Sorting Desktop Icons

Hi Gary, I’ve been trying to find a way that when I drag or save a file onto my desktop that it will take the next available place on the grip but it always takes a lower place on the desktop grid because I had some files there before, is there a way to permanently make it so that it will always take up the next available spot on the grid even after I delete a file and not “refresh”? Thanks

    Well the only options you have are found in the View, Arrange By menu with the Desktop selected. But here’s the trick: hold down the option key when selecting the View menu. Not “Arrange By” is “Keep Arranged By.” So then select Date Modified and that might do what you want.
