It is not allowing me to download the Macmost podcasts in iTunes. It shows the new title, but in the download section it just keeps on appearing and disappearing repetitively without downloading the file. Is this something wrong with the Macmost server?

No trouble on this end. Just downloaded the latest episode myself. The podcast is actually served up by Blip.TV, so maybe you were having trouble accessing their server for a bit?
