Do you have any video on some of the best ways to store your complete movies for future use and to edit?

From iMovie? FCP? Something else?
I would just take all the files involved and put them on an external drive that you use for such a purpose. The details depend on the software. For instance, for iMovie, I’d save the iMovie Events folder that has the clips. I’d save the Projects folder that has the project. That’s all you really need. But you may want to put the exported video and the raw video files in there too for completeness.

Gary I have notice in my Imovie events folder their is iMovie cache, iMovie movie cache and Imovie thumbnails, would I save these as well? I went to my user area to find this or is their another way to do this.
You can dump the cache and thumbnails if you want. If you ever put the event back into place then iMovie will recreate those.

Gary is it necessary to keep the .mts files from my camcorder, that mounts to my desktop from the camera. I use to keep the whole folder.
So these are the raw video files from your camera — what you have before you import them into iMovie? I suppose they would be a little better quality than the converted iMovie Event files, since the conversion would mean a little loss of quality. But whether that is enough for you to care about them, it is up to you.
Back when I recorded to DV tape, I knew that the DV tape copies were better than the imported and converted files. But I didn’t think it was worth it to keep them around. I reused them, and then trashed them.
Gary at what size should I start exporting at 1920 x 1080 HD and 1280 x 720 HD. I record from my camcorder 1920 x 1080. I have one tv that is 40′ and a 46′. I also do slideshows with videos sometimes. I’m just wondering would a 720 HD export be to small for the 40-46′ LED TV.
Most cable and satellite stations are doing 720p right now. So that’s not too small at all. That’s fine.
If you do 1080p, how do you play it back? The only way right now would be to hook your Mac directly up to the TV. Otherwise, DVDs are 720×480 at best, and Apple TV would give you 720p as would many other devices.
I play 1080 it back on a DVD with a blue rey player. I been using Toast blue rey plugin with Toast 11.
Interesting. Which blu-ray burner are you using? How much do the discs cost?
