Apple Mail and Gmail Error

I keep getting an error in apple Mail that is very frustrating. It says “Account exceeded bandwidth limits”. I can’t seem to find a solution to this problem. I have gone to both google and Apple. Google says it’s Apple and Apple says it’s Google or my ISP. My ISP has a 250GB bandwidth limit so I can’t imagine I have used that up. Can anyone help me?

Have you installed the Snow Leopard 10.6.2 update yet? That exact thing is listed as being fixed.

Yes. I have run the update and spoke with an Apple tech who walked me through that and resetting the PRAM after the restart. Any other ideas would be most appreciated.

        Do a Google search for:
mac mail Account exceeded bandwidth limits
You come up with a lot. EVen if you don't find a solution there, at least you are not alone.
One of the most likely things I saw was a mention of rules that move around messages from folder to folder. This would eat up a lot of bandwidth as with IMAP the messages have to travel back and forth. Try turning off any rules you have. Also turn off junk mail filters in Mail (gmail has its own anyway).
Also, I saw mentions of this happening with a very large attachment. Log on to gmail via their Web interface and see if you have an incoming large file.
