Can you watch blu ray movies on a mac?

I have lots of movies on blu ray, I know you can buy external blu ray drives that plug into USB, will that work with mac? if so can you get software that will play it.

No, there's no current way to play a blu ray disc on your Mac. You can get an external drive and use software to make blu ray data disks (not video, data). And you can read data disks too, but not video. It has something to do with the licensing involved with the blu ray format and Steve Jobs' belief that blu ray is just a temporary solution for HD video (online being the long-term solution).
