HD card speed for video

When you take video for use in iMovie, assuming you use HD card storage, what speed class do you feel you need in those cards, or isn’t it a consideration? All my cards are Class 2, which I guess are the slowest.

This is something I'm not familiar with at all: HD cards? Can you give me some examples of these cards?
I take HD video into iMovie using just a Firewire connection. I've do it on a Mac Pro, but I've even done it on an older MacBook Pro without a problem. Never needed to purchase additional hardware.

Gary, I'm stupid. I'm trying to say "SD cards" and was too sleepy last night. Sorry.

I'm not familiar with SD card speed. But I'd imagine the documentation for your camera would have some information about what you should need.
