When I add an answer and change columns, my previous answer vanishes. It’s still there and comes up with a print, but I can’t see it on the screen unless I hight-light it, It worked before, I may have accidently added a wrong keystroke.

Do you mean you are filling out a PDF form in preview? Sounds like it may be an issue with that specific form, in which case there isn't much you can do except report the problem to the form creator.
But I would also try a restart to see if that helps, and also zoom in so the form is larger on your screen as that may help resolve issues if fonts are sized just a bit wrong in the form fields.
