How Do I Recover Pictures From an iPhone Backup

I need to recover photos that were on an iPhone4 but never downloaded to iPhoto. My girlfriend recently got her own iMac and in set up synced her iPhone but the prompt say the phone was set to another did she want to set to this computer. She did and lost everything. Its really just the pictures she needs. She’ll have to get the restore from my computer (the one she used to back up to) and I’m having no success finding mobil sync in the back ups. Running lion both computers and iOS5 phones. I hope this makes sense because I’m at my wits end..thanks rr

The photos are most likely gone. I don't think they are saved in any backup and if she never transferred them to any computer and deleted them from the iPhone, I don't think there is any way to get them back.

    Gary,
Her Iphone was always backed up on the orig computer…it's just when she set up her new computer the iPhone lost data. Isn't there a way to hoop up her phone to the old computer and do a restore from back up and get the camera roll? Thanks

You can try. I've never had to do it so I don't know which tools are good for that. Search for "iphone backup extractor" and some things come up, but I can't vouch for any of them.

Before you give up, open Image Capture (that came with your Mac) in your Applications folder and see if it finds anything on your phone
