How do I save a book with the option to re-order through Apple in the future?

I’d like to delete some books off my computer, but back them up on an external hard drive for future use. Is there a way to do this so that I can have the option to order them in the future through Apple? Is it just a matter of saving it as a PDF, and if so, how would one go about ordering the book from a PDF file?

Not sure what you mean. Books from Apple? You mean with iBooks? Just save the files as they are. No need to convert to PDF. Just save the ePUB files -- that is a standard format.

    Yes, iBooks from Apple.

What I would like to do is free up space on my computer and remove photos and books from my computer to an external hard drive.

When I removed photos from my computer that were used for a iBook that I created, I noticed that it removed those photos from that particular book. When viewing the iBook, I see the photos on the pages on at the top of the screen, but when I click on the individual page, the photos are not there. I now have to move the photos back onto my computer and re-create the iBook.

    Q. How can I remove photos from my computer without them disappearing from my iBook?

    Q. Is there a way I can save my iBook on an external hard drive and remove them from my iPhoto, as I would like to clean it up a bit and free up some space?

    Q. If there is a way to do the above, which is remove the iBooks from iPhoto, how do I go about re-ordering these books in the future through Apple?

    Hope this makes sense.

So you are creating books? That's not what I thought you were asking. I thought you were talking about books that you purchased from Apple in the iBookstore.
What software are you using to create them? There should be an option to embed the photos inside the book, instead of linking to them externally.
Your third question really has me confused: "iBooks from my iPhoto" -- re-ordering? I think you might be talking about books created in iPhoto, not iBooks at all. (iBooks would be novels and such that you buy for your iPad or iPhone).
In that case, you definitely need to keep the photos in your library in order for the photo books to remain intact. You can Print -> Save as PDF, but that won't let you order from Apple again.
I would recommend just keeping your entire photo library together. How much space does it take up? I've got more than 10,000 photos on my internal drive. I would look into clearing out other files, not photos, if you need space.
