How Do I Stop Autolock From Answering a Call When I Unlock the Phone?

I am trying to find out how to keep the phone from auto answering when I get a call and unlock the phone. I would like to set it so that I have the option of answering or declining to answer. As long as the phone is unlocked the option feature works, but when locked and a call comes in it is automatically answer when the phone is unlocked. My phone is an iPhone5.

Thanks for your time.

Instead of unlocking the phone, use the wake/sleep button at the top of the iPhone. Click it once and it silences the ring, but the caller still hears several rings before it goes to voicemail -- and I think you have a chance to pick up the call until then.
Click it twice and it sends the call right to voicemail.
This way you don't need to unlock at all if you want to avoid the call. Or, you could click it twice and then unlock. Not sure what happens if you click once, and then unlock -- be easy enough to try and see.

I have an iPhone 5 and sometimes when I accidentally push the volume up or down buttons when taking my phone out of my pocket, the call goes to voicemail. Is there a way to stop this from happening? I can’t seem to find it in the settings.

Actually, pressing the volume buttons does not send the call to voicemail. It simply silences the ring. You still have the same amount of time to answer the call. So if you accidentally hit the button, then go ahead and answer the call anyway. If you didn't get to it in time, then it has nothing to do with whether you pressed the volume button or not, you just didn't get to it in time.
