I have final cut pro x and i was wondering how to put a black scene in my time line so i can fade up to my 2nd scene in my video project.
I think they use to call these slugs.
I’m inserting a title with a black background and then i delete
the title. but there must be a faster way.

You want to use Generators for that. Click on the Generators button (next to transitions, titles, etc on the right). The "custom" generator is, by default, a black background. Though you can then modify it to be any color.
Look into the other generators too. There are some useful things there you should know about.
