How To Change the Background In Pages 09?

I want my Pages document to have a colour fill or image background instead of the normal white colour. How do I set the background to what I want?

Page 107 of my new book "My Pages" :)

But to answer it here, you would build the image in your favorite image editor (Photoshop, Pixelmator, Seashore, etc). Then import the image into your documen (drag and drop, if you like). Then select it and use the Inspector to set the image to "In Background." This will put it behind the rest of the objects, like you text.
Then you'll want to stretch the image to fit the size of the document, or as you wish.
A tip on Page 108 of the book shows you how to do this once and have it appear as the background behind every page.

In reference to your reply, please confirm that Pages does not have a page background option that we can use. Instead, we have to use a photo as a background by placing it at the back of the text. Thanks.

Right. Instead of having a simple "put this one photo as the background" option, Pages lets you create a whole background layer with multiple images, shapes, text, whatever you want. Any object can be placed "in the background" and then they in turn can used on the background of every page if you wish.
They way pages does it is pretty simple, actually. Simple with the ability to be pretty complex if you want it. Try it, you'll see.
