In iMovie I don’t want to remove the original audio in a clip but want to use that same audio in another clip. Currently I Detach Audio from the original clip, copy the audio piece i need some where else,then to return the original audio to the original clip. Then I paste the audio in another clip where I want to use it. The audio I want is particular to someone in the video not a special affects or music audio.

If that works, then do it that way.
Another option for more advanced sound editing is to edit the audio track of the video in GarageBand.
