Hi Gary, I am trying to record a blank track in garage band.
I need to have a longer pause between tracks so when we are performing gigs and using backing tracks we have time to set up the next song.
I have tried to mute the mic in garage band, lower the recording volume to 0, and switch the mic to the external mic setting (with no mic plugged in) on the apple preferences plane with no success.
I still get an electronic buzz that comes through with the loop, do you know how I can record a track that has no sound.
Thanks for your support,
Cheers Dan.

You don't need to put anything in a track to make it silent. Just grab and drag the content of a track to the right. The result would be a period of silence on the left.
Thanks Gary, I have now got the period of silence, but I can't share/export it to send it to itunes?
What is happening when you try to export?
Under share all of the options are grey not black and I can't click on any of them.
I can save the file using save as but I need to export it as a loop (MP3) to itunes to be able to use it.
That's odd. It shouldn't have anything to do with having silence at the start (I just confirmed that myself). But try different things like putting a loop track at the start or something.
Still no cigar but thanks for the tips..
When you started the project, which template did you choose? Different templates have different properties. For instance, a ringtone template would insist on there being a short loop set to allow for export. Just an idea...
I started with a loop project, I will try a ringtone..
