I recently purchased a download copy of Aperture from the app store. Can I reinstall or move it from my my macbook pro to my new imac computer which I will be using more for photo work.

When you buy from the App Store you are buying for all of your Macs. That's one big advantage for using the App Store. You just need to be using the same account for both Macs.
So just go to the App Store on your second Mac and download it from there. I shouldn't charge you a second time.
