Apparently this only happens in CalDAV calendars and indicates that the location isn't configured in the CalDAV server. Locations can be used to "book a room" for an event -- like if a meeting room holds 20 people and you schedule an event there it can calculate the space remaining, etc. But if the CalDAV server doesn't have any location configured with that name, you get this little error symbol.

I use the MobileMe calendar beta. Can I turn it off?

Go to the MobileMe calendar. Look at the bottom left for a link to "Help." In the help, under "Calendar beta" look for "Leave MobileMe Calendar beta."
