iMac Resume Function

I was watching the video about the iMac resume function in Lion, but for some reason it doesn’t seem to work on my Mac. I do have the “Restore windows when quitting & re-opening apps” ticked, but the only time it seems to do anything remotely like this is when I have to restart the Mac, when all the windows that were open at shut down, all open up. But if I restart, say Safari, I always start back at the Apple home page. Any suggestions? I have Mac OS X Version 10.7.2 (Lion), & the Mac was only purchased about 3 to 4 months ago (Just before Lion was released).

So when you quit Safari, you are leaving windows open, right? It only works if you have windows open and you quit before closing them.
What about with other apps? TextEdit for instance? What happens when you have a TextEdit document open, and then quit TextEdit without first closing the window?
