I understand that lion is at the moment just an upgrade, and not a fresh install, so does that mean that all my apps will be intact after I install lion.
Is there any news on iWeb and the original iLife programs in relation to installing lion. Will iWeb GarageBand iDVD iphoto etc continue to be supported.

Yes. All of your apps and documents will still be there after your install Lion over Snow Leopard. Only the OS has been replaced.
All of the iLife applications that you have installed will remain there too. iWeb and iDVD haven't been updated in a while (at least not any new features) but they should work fine in Lion. The rest of iLife, of course, is very much supported.
Many thanks for the reply
