Hi! Sorry if there is already a thread about this. What’s the best way to protect my new iPad without compromising the design. Any recommendations for screen protectors, cases, etc.?

That's a tough one to answer. "Best" is subjective. Some people prefer nothing, to take a risk and enjoy the look of the iPad without a case. Some get the Smart Cover for its utility and basic screen protection.
I've got a Speck case that covers the back and edges, while leaving the screen open for the Smart Cover to cover it. But I can't recommend it for the simple reason that it is the only one I have tried.
That's the problem. There are probably hundreds of cases and covers out there. Hard for someone to assess them all and determine what is "best" -- and what they would consider best is just a persona preference anyway.
You'll just need to browse the available cases and decide which one fits your use and style.
I have this & its great:

Will venture an opinion. As Gary says, boils down to personal preference for "what works" for you. Really like the "Otter Box" Defender case on my iPhone 4s. On the other hand, my wife wouldn't touch it with a 10-ft pole. ("too bulky") Don't have experience with their iPad protectors; worth a look. Google "ipad otter box"
