Zooming is just so you can see the image closer. You aren't actually altering the image. It is just like any other image editing tool (Photoshop).
If you want to print out a certain section of an image, then crop it to that section. Then it will apply and you can print it.

So I wont be able to make the image on picture bigger when I go to print it?
The cropping tool has worked just not the zoom when I print.
i've never used this program or any other program so i'm still learning! Thank you for your help i've been watching different editing videos on the internet and couldnt figure this out!

The default printing in iPhoto is to fill the page. So if you crop it to the area you want, it will print larger. Try it.

Ok I clicked on the button to crop then I crop picture then i pushed button Done, but it is still going to print the original photo & not the cropped photo. I have adjusted the square by cutting out people and tried to print the picture that shows up is the original photo???

If you cropped the photo and press Done, then when you print, it should print the photo in its current condition: cropped. I just tried it myself.

I have the same problem using iPhoto 9.2.1. Crop picture,iPhoto prints only part of the full uncropped picture (not the part I wanted). I can copy the picture and print it out in Preview and it prints perfectly. I have looked at all the preferences and settings, but no joy.

if you zoom in and then take a screen shot (hold Command, Shift and 4 which will turn your mouse into a crossfire looking symbol and click and drag covering the image let go and you will here a photo snap sound and then look on your desktop and it will be there as picture 1 (or 2, etc.) and you can press print and vola :-)

I have to warn against this technique. A screen shot will take a portion of your photos as you see it on the screen, which may be at a much lower resolution than the photo itself. So them when you print, you don't get all of the detail that you would be properly cropping the photo with iPhoto's tools and printing that.
