Is 10.8.5 Supplemental for All Macs? How Do I Know If It’s Installed?

I have a 2009 Mac Pro (not MacBook Pro) and I pretty sure I only have plain 10.8.5 installed. A supplemental for 10.8.5 came out, but when I do Software Update, it says no updates.
The supplemental doesn’t apply for Mac Pros? I already have it? If so, how do I check if I have Supplemental installed?

I believe it is for all Macs, yes. It is a very tiny update, so you could have easily missed it as it was installing with something else.
You can check by going to the Apple Menu, About This Mac. Then click on More Info, then System Report. Look on the left for Software, then the subcategory Installations. The large list on the right will show you all of your software installations. If you click on the "Install Date" column heading, it will sort by install date and make it easy to see "OS X v10.8.5 Supplemental Update." I see mine installed on Oct. 6. I am using a Mac Pro as well.

I found I installed OS X Update Combined on Sept 19th, but version column is empty. I forgot, but I did Combined & didn't use Software Update as a friend told me Combined is better than SU. I am pretty sure Supplemental was released yet, when I installed Combined. If I use Combined does that mean I have to continue to use it for all subsequent updates, in effect SU doesn't know what I need once I start using Combined? Is Combined more stable/better than using SU?

I am pretty sure Supplemental WASN'T* released yet, when I installed Combined.

I think you are worried too much about this. Let Software Update do its thing. It shouldn't matter which way you updated.
