In earlier versions of iTunes, there was a way to view the status of all downloads in one window. You could see a progress bar corresponding to each download, including apps and podcasts.
Usually three items could be downloaded concurrently, and it was convenient to be able to see which items were completely downloaded, which were currently in progress, and which were awaiting download.
I have been searching for similar functionality in the just-released iTunes 11 but so far have not been able to find it. Is it there, and if so, where?

It is there.
It is in a separate window now.
To get to it, you must be downloading something. When you are, look in the toolbar at the top of iTunes all the way to the right, next to the Search box. You should see a circle with a down arrow in it. Click that and you'll get a whole window with all of the pending downloads, a status showing which ones are being downloaded now. There is also a "Allow simultaneous downloads" button and a "Pause All" button too.
Found it!!! Thanks for pointing me to the right place. Takes a while to get used to some of the new UI features of iTunes 11.
