iTunes video drops out to desktop when

Gary I noticed after this Lion update that when a video finishes it drops all the way out of iTunes to the desktop page. Before when episode of a podcast finished it took me back to the list of episodes for that podcast in iTunes. Is there a setting somewhere I can change? I realize its not that hard to swipe back into iTunes but that was one of the things I thought was cool, the way it slid back and forth between list and video.

I'm not really sure how to reproduce what you are seeing. If I look for a video podcast in my iTunes library, and then double-click it to play, it takes up the whole iTunes window. I watch it. When it ends, the video goes away and I see the list of podcasts again.
    What are you doing different?

When the video ends and goes away I am not in iTunes anymore, it takes me all the way out to my desk top.

Is iTunes quitting? Or is it still running, just hidden? Trying to understand what you are seeing...

Just tried something. When I have iTunes in the full screen mode and a video finishes playing and slides off to the side I see my home desktop with no open iTunes, iTunes is still running but I have to reinter it. I just tried it with iTunes not in full scene. Then when the video end and slides off I see iTunes on the desktop. Hope this is a little more clear.

OK, so you have iTunes in Full Screen Mode? You hadn't mentioned that before.
But when I tried it with iTunes in full screen mode, it worked fine. However, when I also tried to view the video in full screen mode (Control+Click on the video while playing, select full screen) then it behaved like you said.
I would guess that it is confusing iTunes by having both iTunes and the video playback window in full screen.

I guess so, now that I know not to have booth in full screen it OK.
    Thanks for the input

I have Snow Leopard, and i have had no problems at all. I watch the videos in full screen, and then i can switch to the music. I leave it playing while i am working in
Photoshop, and when i want to change the music i right click on the iTunes icon in the dock. You can change the music without leaving Photoshop. When i want it off all together i click on the icon again and quit.

And here I am, posting almost 16 months later on Mountain Lion and this still hasn't been fixed. I just noticed this "iTunes dumping you to the desktop after a full screen video" tonight after I changed iTunes to full screen.

It's not a huge deal, but it seems like it should have been addressed by Apple.... maybe some feedback.

I'm running Mountain Lion (10.8.2) and I got really annoyed by this 'feature' when watching short videos and having to navigate back to the main (Full Screen) iTunes window every time a video ends. What seemed to have worked for me is clicking the 'Leave Full Screen'-icon in the top right corner when watching a video in Full Screen Mode. To my surprise iTunes remains in FSM and videos still play in FSM after this but now I get the main iTunes window (FSM) when a video ends and it seems to last.
