Lost all contacts

I have lost all my contacts from my address book on my mac and on mobile me, is there any way of recovering them.
Unfortunately I don’t think I have backed them up anywhere.

Are you sure that they are gone from MobileMe? Have you checked by logging in to the web site and looking there?
It would be unusual for something to happen and for it to then result in all of your contacts for your online account to each go missing.
What actions have you taken recently that may have caused this? A new account? A new device? Some new third-party software?

I deleted all the contacts on my imac, which is set to link to mobile me.

So, you deleted all of your contacts yourself?
Not sure what sort of solution you are looking for. If you deleted your contacts and didn't make a backup first, then they are gone.

Sorry to mislead, but I unchecked the box in Address book general preferences to sync my address book with mobile me, and boom all my contacts disappeared. I was trying to get rid of the "on my mac" group on my iphone.
I have read there is a way to reinstate the "addressbook-v22-abcddb", but not sure how to go about restoring my address book.

So did you check by going to the MobileMe web site? Do that next. See if they are still there.
