According to my iStat Pro Widget my batteries health is at 44%, which is down from 46% from a few days ago. I haven’t noticed otherwise how quickly this has been happening, but it seems like a few weeks ago it was in the mid-nineties. How can I figure out why this is happening?

The bottom line is: does the battery work? If so, then don't worry too much about the numbers.
Is this an old battery from an older MacBook (one where you can swap out the battery)? Or, is this a newer battery (non-swappable)? Either way, do you get a decent amount of battery life? If so, then don't worry about it. If the battery is old, and the swappable kind, and it isn't holding as much of a charge, then get a new one. I used to get a new battery every year.
