I have a 2008 i-Mac which I’m considering upgrading to Mountain Lion. I also have an early 2008 MacBook running Lion, which I won’t be able to upgrade. If I upgrade my i-Mac, are there any potential issues regarding syncing with i-cloud for mail, address book, iCal, etc. that I might run into? Other thoughts?

I haven't tried that, but I'd imagine that calendar, contacts and mail would all work fine. Would be interesting to see how we'll, if at all, notes and reminders work. Lion has notes in Mail, and you should see them there. Not sure if reminders would appear in Calendar or not.
