I don’t know what changed but i use to be able to take my avchd card and plug it into my apple pro laptop and import it into imovie or FCE.
In imovie the files dont lite up and in FCE it says i have the wrong kind of file.
I’ve used this on 30 projects and now it doesn’t work.
Any ideas what i should look for?

I would seek out support from the card manufacturer. If that is the function of the card and it isn't working anymore, then they would be the ones to help.
Otherwise, you may want to simply try converting the video first to another format using VLC or MPEGStreamclip.
