problems with hotmail

i have hotmail set as my email acct, and emails are automatically downloaded into imail. 2 Problems: 1) very often, i’m asked for my hotmail password even though i entered it several times before and added it to the keychain; and 2) i get error symbols (!) in imail saying that i’m offline.
I’ve seen others complaining of the same thing. Any help?
Thanks

The only suggestion I can offer is to switch away from Hotmail :)
I don't use it, so I've never had to troubleshoot.
Sorry I can't be of more help.

I have the problem on two Macs. No issues in iPhone or iPad. Must be a problem with Apple Mail as I tested with Entourage and no issues

I've had the same exact problem with the constant repeat requests from imail for my Hotmail password though I've put in on the keychain, etc. The answer to just drop my Hotmail account doesn't work for me. Anyone with an intelligent answer to this problem would be appreciated.

It's Microsoft again making life a misery for normal users. After too many connections from your iMail client, Hotmail will start asking you to verify that you are a human. Well, actually it is asking your iMail client to verify it...

Workaround, albeit a tedious one, is to connect manually to Hotmail via your web browser a couple of times and verify the account by entering the distorted letters shown. After a while and with some luck you will push through the loop and your iMail client will connect again. But Microsoft does this check periodically so it the problem will arise again.
