I fully intend to purchase Apple Care for my new 13-inch MacBook Pro and was as prepared as I can be to spend the $249.
However, today I came across what is supposedly the same Apple Care package for markedly less from an online retailer.
Assuming the product is genuine is there any reason I shouldn’t purchase same from them instead of directly from Apple and how is it possible for a third-party to sell Apple Care for less than Apple itself?

Are you sure it is for the same product? AppleCare packages sell for different amounts for different products. Are you sure that package is for the new 13-inch MacBook Pro?
You can always call Apple and ask. Get the product number from the online retailer and see if it is real.
The site does show different packages for different iMac and MacBook (Pro) devices.
Thanks for the sound and good advice. I'll check into this.
