reducing video size without losing quality…???

Hi, I would like, please, how I can reduce a video file (size) without losing quality…I made a home video using iMovie, but it is too large, like 20gb. (I used a Canon 60D). It is 1h:30mm long, but I want to save it in a 8gb DVD. Do you know how can I do that? can I save it as an .AVI? The smaller resolution I want to export it using iMovie is 960×540, but the higher, the better….. Thanks….

So, I assume you mean making a data DVD (you'll see a folder with a file on a computer), not a video DVD (plays back on DVD players).
You can use a program like MPEG Streamclip to re-compress the video. Save it out as a .mp4 using h264 compression, for instance, and you get to choose a bit rate limit. Limit it to some amount that gets you a size less than 8GB.
Now this WILL affect the quality. You can't compress 20GB to 8GB without losing quality. So it is just a matter of a trade-off between quality and size.
