I assume you mean the system software that lets you smack the side of your MacBook to change spaces in Spaces?
I've never heard that there are any safety issues, but it can't be good to always be hitting your MacBook like that.
Smackbook is kind of a novelty. It doesn't really add any new functionality to your Mac. I avoid it. And if you are the least bit concerned about safety, then just don't use it.
