Split Screen In Safari With iPad Pro?

Is there a way to use the split screen feature on my iPad Pro with two safari windows as you can in sierra?

Thank you very much,
Gerry

Yes. That's a good question. You can do it if you know how. Safari on the iPad has a special split view mode that works a little differently than the regular Split View on the iPad that allows you to view two different apps.
So, start off in Safari holding your iPad in horizontal orientation. Then, find a link you want to view. Any link will do to start the split view. Tap and HOLD the link. Then you'll see a content menu appear that includes "Open in Split View." Use that and the link opens on the right side, while your current browser page moves to the left.
Another way to do it is to have more than one tab open. Then tap and drag the title portion of the tab to the right or left edge of the screen. This also only works in horizontal orientation.
To get rid of the Split View, you need to either close all of the tabs on one side, or drag the title bar of the tabs to move them all to one side.
