Subtle Adjustments in Garageband ’09

Greetings,

I have been using Garageband in my elementary classroom to record rap songs about learning. I am wondering if you can change the scale of certain parts of a song? I can set the scale at the beginning for the whole project, but I would like to make scale adjustment within the song. Do you know if this is possible and how to do it?

Thanks again for all of your help and for a great podcast!

Yes. If you open the track editor at the bottom and select a section of a track, you can adjust the Pitch on the left. It can be a bit tricky to get going, but it does work.

I tried it out and it changed the pitch for the entire song...any other ideas that may work? Thanks!

Play around with it some more. If you separate the segments into different audio tracks, you can adjust the pitch for each track separately. It will take you a while if you haven't use GarageBand before. Maybe go in to the Apple Store for a GarageBand training session? Or pick up a book on GarageBand.
